  • Die Fläche (The Surface) was a Viennese graphic arts periodical published in two volumes featuring the work of art nouveau artists associated with the Vienna Secession and Wiener Werkstätte. This cover design by Felician Baron Myrbach is one of the best designs form this beautiful and rare periodical.     Die Quelle was a 3-volume portfolio devoted entirely to surface decoration by publisher Martin Gerlach. The third volume was Koloman Moser’s Flächenschmuck (planar ornamentation) which shows Moser at the height of his talent as a graphic designer. This plate titled Phantasus is taken from the rare volume shows a beautiful synthesis of type-design and ornamentation.
